Our workers' compensation program is offered to members of the Retail Association. We are committed to bringing you a quality program, governed with strict safety requirements and professionalism in claims administration. Our plan provides personal attention, a full-time licensed claims representative and loss prevention expert, and adjusters who are dedicated exclusively to our group.

As a participant in our program, you will discover that we are committed to service and that "PROFIT IS OUR SERVICE TO YOU". Because we are a non-profit organization, all unused premiums, subject to actuarial approval, are returned to the participating member firms. In 2015 the Board of Trustees voted to return $500,000 to the member firms from unused premiums, which resulted in additional reduction of our members' workers' compensation costs in addition to the competitive rates savings.

We are regulated by the Maine Bureau of Insurance and our rates are actuarially determined on an annual basis. Our plan year runs from March 1st to February 28th. However, members may join anytime during the plan year and their premiums are pro-rated accordingly. To be accepted for membership, businesses must meet strict financial requirements imposed by the Maine Bureau of Insurance and the Board Of Trustees.

Self-funded workers' compensation insurance is not for everyone but it is a method used by member firms to bring stability to their bottom line.
