Curtis Picard, CAE, President & CEO
Curtis Picard joined the Retail Association of Maine (formerly the Maine Merchants Association) in November of 2007.
Prior to his current position, Curtis was Vice President of Business Development and International Trade for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. He was responsible for the chamber’s International Trade Program with offices in Shanghai, China and Taipei, Taiwan. Additionally, he coordinated the annual VT Business and Industry EXPO, the largest Business to Business tradeshow in Northern New England and managed the Vermont Aerospace and Aviation Association (VAAA), a group formed to support the aviation industry in Vermont and an affiliate of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce.
Picard serves on the board of directors of the Maine Tourism Association, Topsham Development, Inc., the Maine Workers' Compensation Coordinating Council and the Maine Society of Association Executives. He has previously served on the boards of the Council of State Retail Associations, National Retail Federation and InforME. He was appointed by DECD Commissioner George Gervais to the Maine Small Business and Entrepreneurship Commission. In 2018, he was honored with the J. Thomas Weyant Award by the National Retail Federation recognizing the state retail association executive of the year.
He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1991 with a B.S. in Business Administration and he received a New York University Certificate in Sports and Event Management in 1993. He is a 2008 graduate of the U.S Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management and earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in January of 2012.
Picard is a runner who has completed four marathons and a former volunteer firefighter. He is married with one son and lives in Topsham.
Christine Cummings, Executive Director, Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association
Christine joined the Retail Association of Maine in February of 2015. As the Program and Membership Manager, Christine oversaw the Shop Second Saturday program and RAM's Membership development; ensuring Maine businesses continue to thrive alongside local communities. In June of 2017, Christine was promoted to Executive Director of the Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association. RAM provides association management services to the Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association.
Her background includes both business-to-business and direct-to-consumer marketing. Previously employed at Acorn Footwear and Johnny's Selected Seeds, she brings a variety of experience to RAM including: public relations efforts, media buys, print and social media, graphic design, and sales assistance. Christine holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maine at Orono. In addition, she's pursuing additional classes at Central Maine Community College in the Graphics Communication program.
Christine grew up working at her father's small business in Augusta and admires the hard work and dedication of business owners and their employees. She loves spending time at the coast during the summer, spring skiing in Rangeley and traveling anywhere with turquoise waters.
Amy Downing, Program and Membership Manager
Amy joined the Retail Association of Maine in July of 2017 after nearly a decade with the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. Amy is an experienced event, program and membership professional.
Prior to joining the Retail Association of Maine, Amy served as the Member Services and Program Manager at the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. She also held the title of Program Manager for The Maine Business Leadership Network and the Maine Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. In her time there she was instrumental in growing the affinity programs and non-dues revenue as well as planning many of their special events.
Prior to joining the chamber staff, she worked in the advertising and marketing industry. Her work included media strategist and buyer, promotional field manager, public relations specialist and account executive. She worked under the lead strategist at Rinck Advertising for Governor Baldacci’s Blaine House Conference on Maine’s Creative Economy. She has volunteered her time working on the Pink Tulip Project for the Maine Cancer Foundation, served as a board member for the Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield, has co-hosted the nationally recognized comedy performance “The Early Evening Show”, and currently serves on the review team for the Governor’s Business Friendly Community Certification Program.
Amy holds a degree in Travel and Hospitality Management from Mid-State College. She resides in the Belgrade Lakes area with her husband and son.
Debra Hart, Contract Lobbyist
Deb Hart has owned and operated Hart Public Policy for a number of years and specializes in retail and pharmacy issues for RAM among other clients. She is an avid golfer and resides in Manchester, ME.
Kerry Casey, Contract Bookkeeper
Kerry is a self-employed bookkeeper and accounting specialist. She has worked with RAM since 2007 and helps manage the books not only for us, but for a number of trade associations here in Maine. She is well-versed in association management and helps keep RAM running smoothly. She's also a farmer and animal lover.
